Couperin, Gervais-Francois, organist and composer, 2nd son of Armand-Louis Couperin; b. Paris, May 22, 1759; d. there, March 11, 1826. He succeeded his brother, Pierre- Louis, as organist at St-Gervais in 1789, also taking over his other appointments. He composed sonatas, variations, etc. He was the last of the Couperins to serve as organist at St.Gervais, although his daughter, Céleste (h. 1793; d. Belleville, Feb. 14, 1860), played there at the time of her father’s death. She was a teacher of singing and piano at Beauvais for about 10 years.
